Air Estonia ceases operation

Information for passengers

The national air carrier of Estonia, Air Estonia, has ceased all activities with 8th November 2015. The following is offered to affected passengers:

Flights between 8th and 10th November:

Passengers who bought their tickets directly from Air Estonia (ticket number begins with 960) should have been rebooked and received respective information via mail. If not, please contact the assigned travel agency under rebook@estravel.ee or +372 6266 234.

Tickets that were bought at another airline, even for connecting flights, should remain valid. If you face any problems, please turn to the airline or travel agency where you bought the tickets.

Flights from 11th November:

Passengers with tickets of Air Estonia (ticket number begins with 960) can apply for a refund on the respective website. There is no chance for rebooking, affected consumers have to buy new tickets themselves.

Regarding tickets of other airlines, the same procedures apply as explained above.

By now it is not clear whether other airlines will take over the routes of Air Estonia, but this should become evident in the next few days.

Information

Further information regarding the insolvency of Air Estonia is provided on the respective website. A factsheet displays all options of ticket refund, rebooking and so on in an easy-to-understand graphic.

Refunds through booking platforms are particularly difficult. Those who have booked flights with intermediaries such as Opodo, Expedia & Co that were cancelled due to the pandemic are having a hard time getting their money back. Enquiries are piling up at arbitration offices and consumer protection agencies.
