The European customs authorities have detained more than 40 million articles in 2015, which is an increase of 15 percent to 2014. The numbers are evaluated for the whole Union and presented in an annual report.
According to that, cigarettes (27 %) are the number 1 of counterfeit goods, followed by "other goods" (10 %) and toys. For the first time, the category of labels, tags and stickers (8 %) is under the top 5, before foodstuff (7 %). The countries of origin are led by China, but e.g. Mexico, Montenegro, India and Turkey are also mentioned in the report.
