On the Easter weekend, Sri Lanka was hit by a massive series of attacks with numerous deaths and injuries. Several suicide bombers attacked churches and hotels.

Therefore, many consumers who planned to travel to Sri Lanka are now concerned. Is it safe or should they cancel their trip? Is it possible to withdraw for free or do they have to pay cancellation fees?

The Austrian Foreign Ministry hasn't declared a travel warning for the island, but indicates an increased security risk and advises against travellling if not absolutely necessary. The airport of the capital city Colombo is open and operating.
